Arjun Ramachandran started learning Carnatic music at the age of four. He originally began with vocal but started Mridangam around the age of 8. He is a sophomore in high school. In Mridangam, he is currently under the tutelage of his illustrious Guru “Laya Chakravarthy” Sri. Tiruvarur Vaidyanathan. For vocal, he learns from the renowned artist, Sri Madurai Sundar. Arjun annually participates in the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana festival in which he played in Sustaining Sampradayam for 3 years. He has participated in various competitions and won numerous awards. Most recently, he won 2nd prize for Mridangam in the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana. He also won konnakol 3 years ago at the competition. In the most recent competition Arjun participated in, Sangeetha Samraat: Carnatic Premier League, he won the best accompanist award. In 2012, Arjun accompanied many promising artists in chennai as well as the Iyer sisters in Narada Gana Sabha. In the US, Arjun has accompanied Mridangam for various concerts held in cities such as Detroit, Madison, Milwaukee, Indianapolis, Holland, and Chicagoland area for many upcoming artists.
